Volker Heistermann
@yushanventuresBio: Prior to founding Yushan Ventures (www.yushanventures.com) in Taiwan, Volker was vice president at Rutberg & Co., a boutique investment bank in the mobile telecommunications industry with offices in San Francisco and Boston. His clients included Nokia, QUALCOMM, KPMG, Admob, Greystripe and Morgenthaler Ventures. Previously, Volker was at Google, focused on the German search engine market. Previously, Volker was Manager of Market Intelligence, at IDG, where he directed research programs and conferences. Volker began his career in Germany at Commerzbank and co-founded a startup which facilitated joint ventures among German and Chinese small and mid-sized businesses. As angel investor, entrepreneur, and manager at Fortune 100 company AT&T, Volker has been involved in the mobile and wireless space and startup companies during his 15 years in Silicon Valley and most recently in Taiwan. He serves on the board at GoMai.la, a Taiwanese startup in the mobile eCommerce sector. Volker organizes the MobileMonday, Taipei Chapter, Startup Weekend Taipei and is Mobile Advisor for Mobile Metrix, a social venture incubated at Stanford University. Volker holds a B.A. in Financial Law from the University of Bielefeld in Germany and studied International Marketing at UC Berkeley Extension.
Elias Ek
@eliasekBio: Elias Ek is the co-founder and President of business services company Enspyre (www.enspyre.com) which provides Virtual Office, Phone Answering and Telemarketing services in Taipei, Taiwan. Mr. Ek is also the co-chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce Taipei SME Centre (http://sme-centre.ecct.com.tw). Mr. Ek is from Sweden, but has lived in the US, Japan and Taiwan since 1994. Since 2002 Enspyre has provided companies in Taiwan with professional virtual assistant services and telemarketing. Before starting Enspyre, Mr. Ek served as Director of International Marketing for notebook PC maker PaceBlade, marketing for Taiwanese B2B marketplace AsianProducts.com, and Marketing Manager for Tennessee rehabilitative initiative in corrections (TRICOR). Mr. Ek received a Bachelor in Business Administration in Marketing and a Bachelor of Science in Radio/TV Broadcasting, both from Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, Tennessee. He has also studied at Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall, Sweden and at Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka, Japan.
